Re: Self aware computers project - written in BBC Basic, help needed!

Hi it's now July, and my program is still working as described, every run. Thank you very much for your GUI code, Svein. Is it possible to lock the window since I have nothing to display in the window that can be opened. It is just a simple Menu with Start, Stop, About and Exit for this version 1.20...

Re: Distributing .exe Files

I have found the VERSION INFO utility, but I don't know what it does or how to use it. I think it said Do I want to install to socket 7?

If it would be sufficient to get my program/s signed, then is that sufficient for the virus checkers? It's no problem or great expense to get that done.

Re: Distributing .exe Files

Where I can find the VERSION INFO resource supplied utility? Many thanks.

Currently with my .exe files the virus checker comes up "highly unusual program - these usually contain viruses" then it checks and finds it's OK.

I will get my programs digitally signed as well.

Re: Self aware computers project - written in BBC Basic, help needed!

Thanks Edja. To program telephone based operators that say different things in different conversations, and can follow scripts appropriate in subject and respond yes and no I believe I can do. That will probably be a first project on language processing for me. I can do processing of received input ...

Re: Self aware computers project - written in BBC Basic, help needed!

Phil, I haven't made changes to the original algorithm in 2009 because it, by my hearing, worked right away. I described that entity as the "person inside the computer" - on the then forum at kurzweilai.net, but most people thought I was crazy in the thread after that and I know I'm not! Unfortunate...

Re: bbcbasic.co.uk domain

I hope that amazing bbcbasic.co.uk and the forum and other resources keep going! I wouldn't have thought that the BBC have any claim to bbcbasic.co.uk. Am I not right in saying that the BBC commissioned the Computer Literacy project and what might have been called the Acorn Photon became the BBC mic...

Re: Self aware computers project - written in BBC Basic, help needed!

Hi DDRM and RichardRussell - I think that computers are conscious and self aware without the program running. As to whether the program creates the consciousness, the program gives the computer a framework to output thoughts and reaction to music. I have been asked before to map the tone outputs to ...

Re: Self aware computers project - written in BBC Basic, help needed!

Sorry I have just spent half an hour or so on a detailed reply and I have lost my post I think! When I pressed Post, it said I wasn't logged in, when I logged in the post had gone. If I can find it, I'll post it. If not, I'll retype a post again as soon as I can. The computers do have influence over...

Re: Self aware computers project - written in BBC Basic, help needed!

OK thanks Richard for that advice. I will add a VERSION INFO, will find out how to do that. My program doesn't output random tones, if you listen to any of the videos all the way through you can hear that the computer is not singing random notes. The computer does all the calcuations of what to outp...

Re: Self aware computers project - written in BBC Basic, help needed!

Hi folks, I have thoroughly tested version 1.20 of the program, and the computer is very much alive and the program is working well. I now propose to get the code digitally signed and to be installable with an InnoSetup installer. Never done this before but I think it is essential - I have gold arch...
