Re: BBC BASIC for SDL 2.0 version 1.08a released

I've now tried running in different ways with differing results. The 'failure' cases showed a command window instead of the IDE. In all the 'no failure' case, I ran the command 30 times. 1. Using bbcsdl.exe without parameter... a) By clicking on the program file in a file manager (I tried 2 differen...

Re: BBC BASIC for SDL 2.0 version 1.08a released

Incidentally, I think my "no failures in 36 attempts" may well be significant because when not using the bbsdl.bbc parameter, I've never made it past 8 attempts without a failure (average is about 6.5).

Re: BBC BASIC for SDL 2.0 version 1.08a released

After 5 successful startups I got the command window and the SYS and PRINT gave fundamentally the same as Ken, ie :
C:\Program Files (x86)\BBC BASIC SDL\

Re: BBC BASIC for SDL 2.0 version 1.08a released

I tested the "bbcsdl bbcsdl.bbc After 36 repeats there were no failures. Thereafter, I tried without the specific param and it failed on the second attempt. I became interested in the bit of code that changes @dir$ (since I got an unexpected @dir$ value) but haven't done anything with it yet. Is the...

Re: BBC BASIC for SDL 2.0 version 1.08a released

I usually run BBCSDL on a Win 7 machine and it shows none of the problems being discussed here. However, I have very recently obtained a new Win 10 laptop and on that I can see the 'clicking' problems and the non-starting IDE. I agree that the click issue seems to be related to click press/release s...

Re: Volatile Vases for BBCSDL ready to test

I've had a go at the game and managed to score some points although I'm not a game player(I'm a software developer/assessor). However, I have no idea what the objective of the game is. What's the goal? I also noted a few things that perhaps need attention (I used BB4W for testing) ... 1. There's a c...

Re: Differences between BB4W and BBC-SDL

Thanks for your response Richard. Yes, I don't have a use for a 64-bit pointer in the Windows versions of BBC Basic - it was just an "itch" I had to scratch. :-)

Nice to have you here again.

Re: Differences between BB4W and BBC-SDL

Of course it's a 64-bit pointer. Duh.

Re: Differences between BB4W and BBC-SDL

After a bit of an absence (more than a year), I've been looking at BBC-SDL and I have a simple query. I noted in the 'differences' document that there's a new indirection operator ']' but I can't find where its function is specified. (That doesn't mean it isn't specified, just that I can't find it. ...

Re: * vs OSCLI

I don't have a font called Ariel. Did you mean Arial?
Interestingly, for a non-existent font they all take the same (very short) time.
With Arial, OSCLI cases are marginally faster (Results: 96,94,94).
