Re: Raspberry Pi performance

Obtaining the full screen dimensions via SDL_GetCurrentDisplayMode, Raspbian on my RPi3B is running at 1920x1080 @ 60 Hz. The pixel format is 370546692 (SDL_PIXELFORMAT_RGB888).

Are you planning on doing it this time, David?
Yes, I've made a tentative start on something, although I'm probably biting off far more than I can chew!

Re: Raspberry Pi performance

What kind and resolution of monitor are you using? Mine's an HDTV running at 720p (1280 x 720 x 50Hz); I assume it's likely that if you ask the RPi to run at a higher resolution and/or framerate the performance could be impacted. Samsung S22F350 22-Inch HDMI LED Monitor Max. resolution: 1920 x 1080...

Re: Raspberry Pi performance

I have just installed BBCSDL (Raspberry Pi) v0.26a on my Raspberry Pi 3 model B, running the latest version of Raspbian Stretch. Having followed your installation instructions to the letter, I understand the 'experimental' VC4 GL Driver to be enabled. Running the '80 Aliens' demo (aliens.bbc) on thi...

Re: Raspberry Pi performance

Nevertheless I don't actually believe its performance is too bad given the circumstances. Here is a video of a sprite 'stress test' running on a Raspberry Pi 3 (not the latest model); there are 80 large sprites (full 32-bit RGBA), being scaled and rotated in real time, plotted with shadows over a 6...

Um... well for next Halloween I could start on a major project.. I doubt I will have the skill (or willpower) to beat anyone by the next deadline,
The trouble is, the bar will be even higher by then!

Re: Maizie Bones (new game)

Thanks, Michael. I think the next contest at SyntaxBomb is going to start sooner than I expected. Perhaps you would be interested in giving it a go?

Re: BasicBoy(Maizie Bones, BB4W game)has finished in 1st place in a Maze theme game programming contest!!!

I'm intent this time on submitting a cross-platform entry for it (I think it's pretty much expected now). That's good, but it still leaves some choices. For example would it be 'desktop platforms only' (i.e. relying on a keyboard and mouse) or also suitable for running on touchscreen devices? Would...
