Artistic talent wanted!

Post by RichardRussell »

It would be nice to supply the old Ball Bearing Clock Box2D demo with BBC BASIC for SDL 2.0, but currently it relies on 'debug graphics' which are not implemented on that platform (the BB4W implementation used assembly language). Hence in order to be ported it would need some graphic images (a static background plus separate 'sprites' for the moving parts).

Normally I would try to find suitable 'stock' images (for example the 'lotto.bbc' demo used a commercial graphic of a lottery machine for which I paid a small amount) but as far as I know there are no suitable images that could be used to build the BB clock. So I'm wondering if somebody with artistic talent could contribute something; the images could either be 'cartoon like' drawings or photo-realistic.

If anybody feels capable of this task (ideal for when stuck at home!) I would be delighted to receive their contributions, which would of course be credited in the program.

As usual, 'if you want something done, do it yourself' applied. There are photos of 'real' Ball Bearing clocks at Google Images, and some videos on YouTube, and although their mechanisms are obviously significantly different from the Box2D version - not least that they are 3D! - I was able to cut and paste some suitable sprites:
