BBC BASIC in 'Hello World' magazine

The last-but-one edition of Hello World magazine contains a short article by a teacher explaining why he still teaches BBC BASIC (page 71). Admittedly he is referring to using a BBC Micro emulator, and seems to think that the difficulties of non-WYSIWYG editing are actually beneficial in forcing the students to "pay attention"! I'm not sure he even knows about the Copy Key. 
But nevertheless it demonstrates that there is still interest in BBC BASIC within the teaching profession today.

Some of those students will become interested more in BBC Basic and will wish to become involved further. It is the youth that will make BBC Basic live into another generation.
I take it that you already offer BBC Basic for windows to schools everywhere? Or is there more to it?
If that is the case, you could include BBCSDL cross platforms as a link within BBC4W so that its message could easily get access to the facilities that you wish to preserve.
Perhaps also, a link to donate to the different sites that hold BBC4W resources and BBCSDL for the world could be made at the start of BBC4W much like Liberty Basic does on its trial. Like a window with colorful links for people to explore and support and perhaps maybe become a developer of the platform.
I can see that this would definitely help, because if you have it built into BBC4W people would be more likely to trust a link and support it.

I'm not too sure what you mean by "offer": it continues to be on sale, of course, and fairly generous multi-user site licences are available. But the heyday of BBC BASIC being popular in schools has passed, to some extent because of changes in the National Curriculum.

It's a bit late for that now. Arguably, many years ago I should have built into BB4W some kind of automatic upgrade feature (as so many apps have) so that new releases get picked up without the user having to take the initiative. But I didn't, and again it's far too late now, so there's no point adding a link when those few schools that do still teach BBC BASIC have no reason to update it.

I can't handle donations myself, because of the tax and accounting implications. If you want to donate something, do so directly: for example donate to this forum to keep it advertisement-free.
