« Thread started on: Nov 15th, 2017, 06:22am »

Hello,

I notice that there is a new programming competition. This is the third game programming competition of SyntaxBomb.

All programming languages are wellcome in the competition. Yes... use BBCSDL to write a nice game for this competition! Then the full potential of BBCSDL can be shown!

I see that the competition is for a 'retro' game running at 320x200 resolution and a fixed 16-colour palette. I doubt that the "full potential" of any programming language is going to be demonstrated by that! The skill of the designer/programmer will be tested for sure, but not the language.

Now, a competition for a game that runs in a Teletext (Videotex) display mode really would show off BBC BASIC: the only programming language with a teletext screen (MODE 7) as a built-in feature. grin

ok, I see. I don't know whether Basicboy will make a game for this competition. However, other BBC Basic users may want to program their games for this competition. I find this useful video. This video may help them in game design!!

In addition, this video will really help you! Yes, making a successful game for this competition by you will really make BBCSDL more famous and more popular in the programming world!

Yes!

In fact, although mode 7 is a text mode with block graphics, creative text-based games can still be made in this mode!!

Ooh, interesting! The BB4W Links Page already has a link to the author's site.

Thanks for telling me this!

After reading freeman69's website, I guess that freeman69 is a teacher.

This kind of competition can encourage talented BB4W users to write creative games.
