Took a bit of research, but HERE IT IS.. and its free!
ProBoards is where JB and LB have gone, as you probably know. I reserved bbcbasic.proboards.com and lbbooster.proboards.com yesterday, to prevent any cyber-squatting, but I'm not currently planning to activate them.
There are a couple of issues that concern me about ProBoards. Firstly there's no more certainty that they won't suddenly disappear than there was with Conforums (even now there's still no official confirmation, at their support forum, that Conforums is closing). Secondly their ad-free service is even more expensive than Conforums (and apparently ProBoards aggressively counter ad-blockers).
So I'm currently looking at other options. As I mentioned before, if you add the annual charge for Wikispaces to the costs of keeping Conforums ad-free it amounts to a considerable savings. For far less than that amount I can host both the forum and the wiki, with no advertising at all! The downside is that it's a much smaller enterprise with possibly even less certainly of staying in business.
I'm still awaiting a response from the admin of the BB4W forum - I suspect he may be 'offline' for Easter - and obviously it isn't appropriate to do anything until I know what his plans are. There is no way that I want to re-instate the crazy dual-forum (BB4W plus BBCBASIC) arrangement that we currently have, with the silly ongoing feud.
